Christmas Hampers offer Help to Families in Need

Contact your Tenant Liaison for a Hamper Referral

Every year volunteers, donors and agencies in Calgary come together to support those in need, and 2020 is no different. If you need help this year, please reach out!

Part of CHC’s role in providing tenancy services for low to moderate income Calgarians is providing a variety of supports for tenants who may be in need. Your Tenant Liaison (TL) is the person to call if you need help with things like food or other basic needs, to link you with other services in the community, or help with tenancy concerns.

Reach out for a referral – call your TL or (587) 390-1200

This year is harder than most for many, so if you are in need of support this Christmas, please reach out to your Tenant Liaison right away. Most Christmas hamper programs in Calgary are available by referral from a service agency or social worker only and are not able to accept self-referrals from clients.

Other possible referrers include School Councillor or Principal, Social Worker or Case Worker, Family Doctor, Primary Care Network, AHS, Religious Leader, Community Resource Centre and Social Service Agencies.

You can also dial 2-1-1  for supports.

Call 2-1-1 and they will direct you to assistance. You can call 2-1-1 anytime you need information on where you can go for help!

How to support Christmas Hamper Programs

Christmas Hampers have a huge impact on families and seniors in our communities. There are a number of ways Calgarians can support Christmas Hamper programs in the community.

In-Kind and Financial Contributions:  Most programs collect non-perishable food items, toys for kids, gifts for adults and seniors, toiletries, and warm items (new socks, mittens, toques and scarves) for hampers.

  • Donations are usually accepted until December.
  • Contact agency offices to contribute.

Volunteer Opportunities:  Giving back feels so good! And most agencies could use some help with stuffing stockings, making gifts, packing food hampers, and delivering to those in need.
