The FOIP Act defines personal information as recorded information about an identifiable individual.

We collect personal information that relates directly to and is necessary for the administration of our programs and activities as permitted in Section 33(c) of the FOIP Act.

Calgary Housing has safeguards in place to protect your personal information against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, or disposal. 

Your information is protected using technical and administrative security measures to reduce the risks of loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, and alteration. Some of the safeguards used are firewalls and information access authorization controls. 

Personal information will be used by authorized staff only to fulfil the purpose for which it was originally collected or for a use consistent with that purpose. We do not disclose your personal information to other public bodies, third parties or individuals except as required or authorized by law or with your consent.

What Personal Information Do We Collect? 

1. Web user Information 

When you visit www.calgaryhousingcompany.org, our web server automatically collects a limited amount of information essential for the operation and security of our website. Some of this information includes: 

• Internet domain name or IP address 

• The type of browser and operating system used to access Calgary Housing’s site 

• The date and time 

• The pages you visited 

• browser type 

 

This information is not used to identify individuals who come to Calgary Housing’s website. This information is only used to help Calgary Housing assess its information services and is collected in compliance with Section 33 (c) of Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. 

If you choose to provide Calgary Housing with personal information in an e-mail or by filling out an electronic form and submit it to the Calgary Housing through our web site, Calgary Housing will use that information to respond to your message and to assist us to provide you the requested information or service. 

2.  Subscription to Resident Newsletter (through web form)

For subscription to the resident newsletter, a resident must provide their Last name, First name and email address. 

 

3. Online Bookings (through web form)

For making an online request for an appointment with a Calgary Housing agent, the form collects a person’s First and Last name and Email address.

Yardi Systems Applicant & Resident Portals 

Citizens are directed to the Yardi Systems website to submit applications for subsidized housing programs or log into their personal resident profiles.  The Online Yardi system is a centralized database for housing providers that contains applicant and resident information. Housing providers use the information to identify potential tenants when units become available. Individuals searching for subsidized housing can submit one application form to be considered for any available housing unit. This means that the personal information you submit using the Online Yardi Housing Application will be made available to Calgary Housing employees. The personal information collected in the Online Yardi Housing Application is used to determine eligibility for subsidized housing.  

For applicant first time registration, Calgary Housing will collect an email address and a registration code (code provided by calling Calgary Housing).  For applicant re-entry onto website, we are collecting the username (email address) and password.
