Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant affordable housing rendering.

Situated in the charming Mount Pleasant neighbourhood at 2020 6 Street N.W., this new affordable housing project marks a significant advancement in our commitment to building inclusive communities. Set on land previously occupied by St. Joseph School, the development includes 16 affordable housing units.

The project prioritizes sustainability, resilience and energy efficiency by employing high efficiency building materials, and alternative energy sources. This includes enhanced air-tightness, triple-glazed windows, exterior insulation, cold-climate air-source heat pumps, and photovoltaic panels for energy generation, aiming for a significant reduction in energy consumption and carbon emissions.

The development will tie-in seamlessly to adjacent St. Joseph Park which offers a community space featuring a fenced off-leash area, a new plaza, and natural play structures, providing residents with opportunities for leisure and fostering connections with the surrounding community.

This initiative is part of The City’s broader strategy to ensure all residents have access to safe, stable, and affordable homes. The development is scheduled to commence construction in the Spring 2025 with anticipated completion and resident move-in by Summer 2026.

Managed by Calgary Housing, the project will offer mixed income rental options. This model promotes a financially sustainable environment while fostering community integration among residents of varying income levels.
